Sara is an AASW registered social worker with over a decade of post-qualified experience internationally and within Australia. Originally from Ireland and currently based in Melbourne, Sara practiced as a senior social worker within the UK child protection system before moving to Australia in 2019.
Until recently, Sara was a Social Work Manager provided leading clinical and trauma informed therapeutic care for children and young people in OOHC. Sara also provided training, coaching and reflective practice to groups of professionals as a leader in the field of child and family services.
Sara now focuses on utilising her leadership and supervisory skills in a private practice capacity, as an external supervisor and consultant to child and family services staff and teams. She also continues to work directly with children and families as a child play therapist across various therapy clinics in Melbourne. Maintaining direct client work is important to Sara as she coaches and mentors other professionals working with vulnerable children.
Sara brings a warm and transparent approach to her work with the aim of building meaningful relationships that facilitate trust, psychological safety and enable honest reflections of self and professional practice from a collaborative perspective. Sara values an approach that acknowledges the intertwining nature of both personal and professional needs in the field of social work.
Supervision sessions are currently online with availability outside of business hours to accommodate varying needs.

External supervision of practice including secondary consultation on individual cases, stress management, skill development and sustaining wellbeing within the field of child and family services.

Receive direct consultation and/or training in relation to child and family service practice related areas. Such as staff skill development, staff retention issues and navigating complex systemic challenges.

Develop your ability to reflect, unpack complex systemic issues and relationship dynamics impacting your work.
Take time to pause your practice and reduce reactivity.
